Aldern & Rowe Architects · Bristol
Residential architects in Bristol.
Most of our work is extending or converting houses that people already live in. We take each project from the first site visit to the day the builders leave.

Rosewood Barn
Planning would only allow a building the same size and shape as the barn that once stood there. So the house is a barn: one long gabled volume, clad in larch.
The Maltings
The brick piers carry the roof and could not move, which fixed the plan before we drew anything. The workshop takes the ground floor between them.
Hillside Road
A 1930s semi with a dark kitchen and a carport nobody used. The carport became a two-storey extension, and the kitchen is now lit from above.
The kitchen faced north and stayed dark most of the day. A roof lantern fixed it. No extension needed.
