The house

Built in 1768 for a wool merchant.

It has been a family home for most of the years since, and still is during the week. At weekends the family moves across to the coach house and the main house is let for one wedding at a time.

The spaces

Lawn and gravel path inside the walled garden, with fruit trees trained against the brick

The Walled Garden

Ceremonies, May to September

Brick on four sides, with pears and plums trained flat against the walls. It seats 120 on the lawn.

Long tables laid for dinner inside the glass Orangery, with greenery overhead

The Orangery

Ceremonies and drinks, all year

Glass on three sides and heated from October. It also seats 120, so it is the fallback if it rains.

The Saloon: a pale panelled room with tall sash windows, a chandelier and a wooden floor

The Saloon

Dinner and dancing

The largest room in the house. Dinner for 120, then the tables are cleared for the band.

Most couples visit twice before they book.

Viewings are on weekday afternoons and the first Sunday of each month.
